New Delhi: The Tennis Australia team has completed the selection of the Aviva Ballkids trials at the RK Khanna Stadium in New Delhi, for the third consecutive year with over 200 children from across the country taking part in the trials.
Talin Mundkar, Jahanvi Khokhar, Prabhakar Shatrack and Akansha Singh are the lucky kids who wll travel to Melbourne for the Australian Open Championship.
Vivek Khanna, Director-Marketing, Aviva Life Insurance said, “It is a big opportunity for the young tennis stars who will get to share the court with leading tennis players in the world. We hope that one of them will return, one day, to play the Australian Open Championships and make India proud.”
Steve Wood, CEO, Tennis Australia said, “We are happy to see India partner us in the Grand Slam of Asia Pacific.”
The selection process was rigorous and took into account crucial factors such as hand-eye coordination, concentration levels, work ethic, reaction times, rolling of the ball and general tennis knowledge.
Globally, Aviva Life Insurance, a joint venture between Dabur and Aviva is the only corporate to sponsor ballkids at a Grand Slam tennis tournament and has entered into a four-year deal with the Australian Open from 2005 to 2008. In 2006, six aspiring tennis players from India went to the Australian Open as the Aviva Ballkids.
