The contenders are Jet Airways Citibank Platinum Credit Card with a contrived set of ads plugging the age-old benefits of lounges, upgrades and free tickets, Vaseline Intensive Care Healthy White with its absurd attempt to draw a link between doing well in tennis and having good skin tone and all the auto commercials on display.
The crown belongs to The Auto Commercial, christened so because all auto ads are the same and it would be unfair to single out anyone for undue attention. This time, we have the Hyundai car-as-jet-plane, Mahindra Scorpio car-as-accessory of the rich and spoilt and Mahindra Xylo car-as-accessory-of the-coke-snorting-cool all combining to produce the largest assemblage of clichés this side of the ‘saas-bahu’ serial.
