Bangkok: Viacom 18, a 50:50 joint venture of Viacom and TV 18, is planning to launch a general entertainment channel ‘Colors´ in July.
“The launch of ‘Colors´ would make Viacom 18 a strong player amongst the entertainment networks in the country. Viacom 18 already has its TV and film entertainment offerings via MTV, Nick, VH1 and Studio18 and is now entering the Hindi entertainment segment," Colors chief executive officer Rajesh Kamat said.
“Colors will provide a variety of programmes for different age groups with different viewing preferences. The programmes will combine elements of fantasy and reality,"Colors programming head Ashvini Yardi said.
It promises to deliver fear as well as love to viewers. Action hero Akshay Kumar hosted ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi´, which would be the biggest action show on the channel with 13 models taking part in it.
Talking about the show Akshay said, “Fear is in everyone’s mind but I think women are stronger than men and can tackle it better. The show would engage participants in exercises of physical and mental combat and will have 13 beautiful daring women take on some of the biggest challenges of their lives".
The models include Yana Gupta, Aditi Govtrikar, Pooja Bedi, Sonali Kulkarni, Tapur Chatterjee, Tupur Chatterjee, Sayali Bhagat, Nethra Raghuraman, Anjana Sukjani, Dipannita Sharma, Payal Rohtagi and Meghna Naidu and would be shot in South Africa.
