New Delhi: The Prince of Kolkata is definitely not a happy man with the chances of Knight Riders making it to the semifinals becoming bleak, following their tame loss to Rajasthan Royals. Put in to bat first at Eden Gardens, the Knights could not build a single 50-run stand on home turf, and ended setting a measly 148-run target for the Royals.
Shane Warne’s Royal Challengers chased down the 148 in 21 balls remaining and six wickets to spare. Yusuf Pathan (48 not out off 18 balls) and Mohammad Kaif (34 not out off 31 balls) drummed up an 81-run partnership.
The Royals, now on 18 points from 11 outings, registered their ninth win while retaining their position in the top of the table. The Knight Riders’ hopes to make the last four diffused further with the defeat. The Ganguly-led side remained on 10 points after 12 ties.
