New Delhi: Mail Today has published a cartoon showing a person wearing an Australian police badge and dressed like a member of the Ku Klux Klan, a hate group that attempts to protect the interests of white supremacists.
The cartoon comes in the wake of the death of 21 year old Indian, Nitin Garg, who was murdered in Melbourne on Saturday. Indians in Australia have been the target of a slew of attacks over the last few months.
While the Mail Today depiction has been condemned by Bob Cameron, the Victorian state minister of police, the cartoon is hardly the first to generate a storm of controversy. Here’s a look at several recent depictions and cartoons that have pushed the envelope.
