Mohali: Punjab Police has made elaborate security arrangements by deploying 800 personnel for Indian Premier League Twenty20 match to be played on 19 April between local favourites kings XI Punjab and Chennai super kings.
“We have made elaborate security arrangements and 800 police personnel will be deployed to take care of security measures for the match,” Mohali’s senior superintendent of Police, Ranbir Singh Khatra told PTI.
Khatra was supervising the arrangements being put in place along with senior officials from the district.
More than 100 private security guards have also been put on duty by the ogranisers for the match, in which Yuvraj Singh led Punjab team will take on Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s super Kings.
The Punjab team’s co-owner and Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, too, has been camping here for the past few days ahead of big match scheduled for 19 April. She could be seen giving instructions to those associated with her team at the PCA today to ensure everything was in place for the match.
Meanwhile, the Punjab team’s coach, Tom Moody announced his team for tomorrow at a media conference in Chandigarh.
The team: Yuvraj Singh (captain), Simon Katich, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardane, Karan Goel, Piyush Chawla, Sreesanth, James Hopes, Kyle Mills, Irfan Pathan, Pankaj Dharmani, Wilken Mota, V R V Singh, Brett Lee and Tanmay Srivastava.
