New Delhi: Jamaica’s minister of tourism, Edmund Barlett and director of tourism Basil Smith unveiled the Jamaica Tourist Board’s refurbished website www.VisitJamaica .com featuring a fresh look with a focus on the vibrant country’s tourist product offerings. The website had a global launch last evening with a special live webcast from Kingston, relaying the same to different markets that were of interest to Jamaica.
The website scores with its interactive online experience of the country’s diverse attractions, accommodation and special features for both - the budget and upmarket tourist. Built-in features include improved functionality, updated content, quicker response time, GPS tracking of favourite spots and Google maps.
Greeted with an upbeat tempo version of One Love, visitors will be invited to use the ‘slider’ function which will guide them through Jamaica’s varied offerings via flash experience, moving images and videos.
“The new website is an improved means to communicate and educate travellers about marketing Jamaica as a premiere Caribbean tourism destination,” he added.
The board has recently partnered with Travelocity.com, which will serve as the online booking engine for consumers wishing to book vacation packages through the site. Besides, to continually drive new audiences to connect with the website, consumer promotions will be launched with Travelocity, luggage company Eagle Creek, Amazon.com and Universal Music.
