Washington: After receiving accolades worldwide and sweeping Oscars, Slumdog Millionaire, the feel good film about a Mumbai tea boy, has now caught the fancy of US president Barack Obama.
Obama wants to watch British Director Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire, which is made with a modest budget of $13 million and has so far grossed around $100 million.
The exhilarating rags-to-riches fairy tale set in Mumbai won eight Oscars on Sunday night, including for the best picture and best director, with music composer A R Rahman bagging two Academy Awards for his impressive score in the movie.
“I don’t know if he (Obama) has seen Slumdog Millionaire. I know he wants to,” White House spokesman, Robert Gibbs, told reporters Monday.
Gibbs said Obama has watched several movies recently. “I think that a lot of the movies that he has seen recently are movies that might also entertain a 7 and a 10 year old girl. Not sure that Slumdog Millionaire would be on that list.”
The US President has two daughters, 7 year old Sasha and 10 year old Malia.
