Bengaluru: The auctions for the Indian Premier League (IPL 8) started on Monday with former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh fetching as much as ₹ 16 crore.

Other big money moves included wicket keeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik going to Bangalore for ₹ 10.50 crore, Sri Lanka’s Angelo Mathews for ₹ 7.50 crore to Delhi Daredevils, which also paid ₹ 3.50 crore for spinner Amit Mishra.
Mumbai Indians bought Australian batsman Aaron Finch for ₹ 3.20 crore. Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹ 2 crore while Kings XI Punjab bought Murali Vijay for ₹ 3 crore.
As many as 344 players are being auctioned for the eighth season of the IPL tournament, which begins in April. The Kolkata Knight Riders are the defending IPL champions this year.
