R-Money ties up with TV18 to sell gold coins

Mumbai: Reliance Money, Anil Ambani group’s financial services distribution arm, today said it has tied up with Television Eighteen (TV18) group’s home shopping network, Homeshop 18, for selling gold coins and trading services directly at consumers’ doorsteps.
R-Money will initially feature its trading and brokerage services and Pure Gold Coins on Homeshop 18. The company had recently launched retailing of 5 gm and 8 gm gold coins in collaboration with Valcambi of Switzerland.
“The unique format of a home-shopping channel not only provides consumers the opportunity to understand financial products and services in depth, but also offers the ultimate convenience of buying them without having to step out of home," R-Money CEO Sudip Bandyopadhyay said in a statement.
While distribution of consumer products is fairly common through home-shopping channels, distribution of financial products and services through such a model is an innovative way of reaching out to consumers.
Consumers can order products or ask for more information by calling a number or sending an SMS to Homeshop 18’s customer service centre.
“Through the initiative, Reliance Money has got access to Homeshop 18’s entire viewer base, thus increasing its distribution reach, while Homeshop 18 has widened its basket of offerings for consumers".
Reliance Money operates from over 3,000 outlets spread across 700 cities and offers services and products like equity, derivatives, mutual funds, IPOs, life and general insurance products, offshore investments, money transfer, money changing, gold coins and credit cards.
