New Delhi: Reliance group-owned Business Broadcast News Pvt. Ltd., which operates 24-hour English business news channel BTVi (formerly known as Bloomberg TV India), has partnered with news agency Reuters to offer global financial and business news in the country. Reuters is the news and media division of media and information firm Thomson Reuters.

Under this partnership, BTVi will now be able to access Reuters television studios across the globe and will offer global and political news, regular global round-ups and extended exclusive features programming to its Indian viewers.

“BTVi will leverage our global strength to bring global and financial news to their ever growing audience on a daily basis from our studios around the world and support their coverage of key global events" Munira Ibrahim, senior vice-president for sales and content solutions at Reuters said in a statement.

BTVi already has a tie-up with Thomson Reuters Financial Services for global market data and news feeds. Both organizations had signed an agreement in July.

Siddharth Zarabi, executive editor at BTVi, said the channel is expanding its presence in the digital space to reach a larger audience. “After many years of bringing Indian viewers content on business, the stock markets and the economy, BTVi is ushering in new content offerings for the business news space in India," said Zarabi.

The move comes after Business Broadcast News and Bloomberg LP, the business information and media firm controlled by billionaire Michael Bloomberg, terminated their media licensing agreement in January. In August, Business Broadcast News rechristened Bloomberg TV as BTVi.

The company also hired Monica Tata, former managing director of HBO India, as the chief operating officer in August. “Our country is one of the fastest growing economies in the world with large and growing business audience. And together with Reuters, we are confident of strengthening our leadership position further by delivering more value to our increasingly sophisticated business audience through great business news content on a real time basis," said Tata.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg Media has partnered with Quintillion Media Pvt. Ltd that operates news website thequint.com for the formation of BloombergQuint, a partnership in the broadcast, digital and live events space, according to a Mint report dated 13 April. Raghav Bahl, founder of Quintillion Media, and Michael Bloomberg have together invested 100 crore in the venture.
