As the 37-day Indian Premier League, or IPL, enters its last lap,excitement is building up among viewers. The latest data released by TAM Media Research Pvt Ltd shows an increase in the television rating points, or TRPs, from 3.4% in the week ended 9 May to 3.74% in the week ended 16 May.

The year-on-year comparison of TRPs for the first 46 matches, however, still shows a marginal decline from 4.73% in 2008 to 4.05% this year. But the advertiser interest remains healthy with the number of brands present on IPL having grown to 112 last week from 101 brands the previous week.
