New Delhi: Korean handset maker Samsung on Tuesday unveiled the successor to its flagship S5 smartphone β€” Galaxy S5 Mini β€” priced at Rs26,499. The handset will be available from Wednesday through e-commerce major Flipkart.

With a host of innovative features like water & dust resistance, ultra power saving mode and heart rate monitoring, the Galaxy S5 Mini delivers a powerful performance that truly enhances your lives, Samsung said in a statement.

β€œThe Galaxy S5 Mini is the perfect combination of performance and power in a conveniently compact design. Effortlessly smart and intuitively simple, the Galaxy S5 Mini empowers your life, helping take care of your well-being," Samsung India VP (Marketing - Mobile & IT) Asim Warsi said.

With a 4.5-inch HD Super AMOLED screen, the handset is powered by 1.4 GHz quad processor, 1.5GB RAM and 16GB ROM (expandable up to 64GB). The Android KitKat operating system-based Galaxy S5 Mini also comes equipped with 8MP rear- facing camera and a 2.1 MP front camera.

The Galaxy S5, which was launched earlier this year, features a larger 5.1-inch screen and is currently available for about Rs37,000.

According to research firm IDC, Samsung is the market leader in the Indian smartphone market with 29% share. Smartphone sales in the India market, which is the fastest growing in Asia Pacific, rose 84% to 18.42 million units in the April-June 2014 quarter from 10.02 million units (in Q2 2013 quarter).
