New Delhi: Political parties including the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress in both Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh turned to social networking sites—Facebook and Twitter—on Thursday morning ahead of the counting to the assembly election polls in both the states.

Twitter-savvy Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, who has more than 1.1 million followers on Twitter, posted an optimistic message. “No need of looking behind, FORWARD! We want infinite energy, infinite courage, infinite patience...," he tweeted in reference to Swami Vivekanand.

Arjun Modhwadia, president of the Congress party’s Gujarat unit called the result day as the “judgement day" and opted for tweeting out a quote. The Gujarat leader, also an MLA from Porbandar, tweeted: “A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him. Good Morning! Judgement day!"

The Congress unit of Gujarat too tweeted in the similar vein as Modhwadia and added, “Time will tell if people voted for PrajaVikas (development of the people)", in its tweet.

Meanwhile, for Himachal Pradesh, too, the Facebook page of Gujarat Congress showed posts on trends that were emerging out of the hill state, mostly in favour of the Congress party.

On Twitter, hashtags on the Gujarat elections including #Gujarat, #BJP, #Congress and #NaMO (for Narendra Modi) were trending on Thursday morning.
