The share of Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs), backed by growing content in not just fiction but also a host of reality shows, increased across all age groups in 2010, shows a study by TAM Media Research. Data provided by TAM shows that while the share of Hindi GECs increased from 26.9% in 2009 to 29.6% in 2010, the share of regional GECs fell from 24.2% to 22.9% during the same period. In the meantime, the study says, the number of active channels increased from 427 to 440.
