Balu Venkitachalam, former CEO of Meritus Analytics India Pvt. Ltd, a GroupM company, is joining Reliance-Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group’s new knowledge and research unit, say media buying executives familiar with the development. Before Meritus, Venkitachalam was part of the core team that formed GroupM. He was unavailable for comment.
Ian Rowdenhas been appointed chairman and CEO of Asia-Pacific Saatchi and Saatchi. He will report directly to company CEO Kevin Roberts. “Asia is experiencing change on a quantum scale, with progress fuelled by education, hard work, timeless values and vast numbers of people. Someone with Ian’s unique ability and knowledge of the region and its dynamics will be an asset in building success and strong emotional connections,” said Roberts.
Rowden started his career at Coca-Cola Co. in Sydney. Most recently, he was executive vice-president and chief marketing officer of Wendy’s International Inc., and left that position to return to Australia in January.
Ravi Krishnan, former managing director of IMG South Asia, has joined the Indian Premier League (IPL), Jaipur Franchise—owned by Emerging Media—as vice-chairman.
Krishnan, with more than a decade of sports marketing experience in India and Asia, had been in discussions with more than one IPL franchise. Said Krishnan: “The IPL is the biggest thing to have happened in the history of Indian sports. The approach of the owners of the Jaipur franchise is one of utmost professionalism and planning. This augurs well for success, both on and off the field. We are in it to win.”
Krishnan will play an advisory role to the franchise in structuring the business for commercial, operational and on-field success. He continues to be proprietor of Abler Advisory Pvt. Ltd, an investment advisory focused on private equity in real estate.
Malay Parekh has joined P9 Integrated, Mumbai, as general manager, merchandising. He had been working with Pidilite Industries Ltd. He is the man behind the concept of Hobby Ideas chain of stores, and was responsible for overall management.
