Hiring in the hospitality sector seems to be on a steady course with the net employment outlook for the sector at 18% in the second quarter this year, a marginal increase of two percentage points, against a net hiring outlook of 16% in the previous quarter, says a report by Manpower Services India Pvt. Ltd.
Of the 174 employers surveyed, 25.9% expressed a desire to increase hiring in the April-June quarter, while 62% said they did not anticipate any change in their hiring plans. Only 7.5% of the employers anticipated a decrease in hiring.

In the January-March quarter, 18.9% of the 196 employers surveyed had said they anticipated an increase in hiring, and only 3% of the respondents apprehended any fall in hiring. Around 69% of the respondents had said they would stick to their hiring plans.
This outlook is based on responses collected from human resource, or HR, heads of firms in the hospitality sector, which includes hotels, service apartments, restaurants, motels, resorts, catering and canteen services, clubs, bars and discotheques.
Around 60% of the companies surveyed in the second quarter were based in north India, against 50% in the first quarter.
