Zee TV beats Star Plus; Colors retains top slot

New Delhi: As Colors retained its top spot among the Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs), Zee TV nudged Star Plus to take the second spot in the weekly ratings as the company resolved its dispute with its distributors. According, to the latest ratings released by research firm, TAM Media Research Pvt Ltd, Colors grossed 273 gross rating points or GRPs during the week ended 3 October, 2009 as compared to 263 GRPs reported in the previous week.
Zee TV rose 30 points from 221 GRPs to 251 in the reported week. Nitin Vaidya, COO, Zee Entertainment days, We were in the race for the top spot till a few weeks back when problems cropped up with the distributor DEN Networks in the some parts of the country therefore our ratings dropped due to poor coverage. Last week the whole issue got resolved and the
results are visible. Our strength is our content, Zee is not dependent on
any one programme,” he added.
Star Plus was displaced off its second spot as it fell 18 points to 237 last week. Meanwhile Sony Entertainment and NDTV Imagine retained their third and fourth position respectively in the rating.
Among the programmes Star Plus ruled the top two positions in the top 10 for the week with Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Bidayi.
While Zee Tv and Colors shared the other eight positions with four programmes each gaining a place in the top 10.
