London: A review has been launched at Rupert Murdoch’s News International in the wake of the tabloid phone hacking scandal and will also weigh journalistic standards at its other UK titles, including The Times of London, a person familiar with the matter said.
Murdoch’s UK newspaper arm has been shaken by widespread allegations of illegal behaviour at the now-defunct News of the World, once the country’s most popular Sunday tabloid. It has since called in a London law firm to help review journalistic standards across the company.
The person said the review would examine other News International publications, including the 226-year-old Times, The Sunday Times, and The Sun, Britain’s biggest-selling daily. The person requested anonymity because she wasn’t authorized to speak publicly.
