Mumbai: The Indian Premier League audiences will soon have an opportunity to watch the semi-finals and final matches across over 120, 3D (three dimension) enabled screens across India.

The first, the semi-final, will kick off on 21 April, and the finals will be screened on 25 April. The matches will be screened in 16 major cities in India including Mumbai, Rajkot, Raipur, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Anand, Gurgaon, Jaipur, Kolkata, Nagpur, Nasik, Noida and Pune among others.

“This is pretty much the first time in history that a live event will be captured and screened live in 3D. With a delay of literally 6-seconds or the time it takes to throw one ball," says Ranjit Thakur, chief executive, Scrabble Entertainment Pvt. Ltd which has entered into an exclusive marketing and distribution arrangement for the year 2010 with the Valuable Group owned Crown Infotainment Private Limited, the holders of the theatrical and public venue exhibition rights of the IPL matches in India.

The arrangement is based on revenue share basis with a minimum guarantee. For the year 2010 IPL has confirmed that the semi finals, match for the third place and finals will be available in 3D. However, from the next year onwards the number of 3D matches is expected to grow.

The tickets for the semi-finals and final matches are likely to be priced at anywhere between Rs1000-1200, with each circuit or multiplex chain having its own promotions which could range from offering free merchandise to alcohol after tying up with sponsors, said Thakur.
