What next, Prime Minister?

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is a trader of stale news. In his remarks at the meeting of chief ministers on terrorism, Singh said because of the “sophistication and military precision of the attack, it must have had the support of some official agencies in Pakistan".

This is an open secret. The intransigence of the Pakistani establishment in handing over terrorists such as Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi and other Lashkar-e-Taiba leaders only confirmed that.

The question is what does the PM propose to do now? It’s clear that diplomacy has little chance of success in ensuring that masterminds of 26/11 stand in the dock of an Indian court. Not only that, initial reports suggest that Pakistan has dismissed the so-called dossier of evidence handed over to it. Again an expected move on Islamabad’s part.

It is clear the PM and his team have no coherent strategy to meet that challenge. Will “all?options"?be exercised now, as external affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee had said earlier? Indian citizens deserve some honest answers.
