Manufacturers of writing and printing paper, Ballarpur Industries Ltd, on Wednesday reported a 2.4% rise in net profit to Rs66.28 crore for the quarter ended 30 June, compared with Rs67.88 crore in the same quarter the previous year.
The total income during the quarter increased to Rs537.65 crore, from Rs533.69crore during the year-ago quarter. During the quarter, paper sales were 113,336 million tonnes (mt), compared with 110,377mt during the year-ago period. On a consolidated basis, the company’s net profit for the fourth quarter increased by 19.17% to Rs255.06 crore, from Rs214.03 crore last year. Ballarpur Industries’ total income grew by 21.20% to Rs2,331.51 crore for the quarter, from Rs1,923.68 crore during the previous fiscal.
During the fiscal year, paper sales were 457,490mt, compared with 407,335mt during the previous fiscal.
Ballarpur Industries’ foray into the retail business is still at a concept stage, said R.R. Vederah, managing director of the company.
The company’s share closed at Rs139.25—up 1.64% on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
