Mumbai: Fourteen companies, including ICICI Bank and DLF Ltd, have raised the highest-ever amount in any month in June 2007, mopping up Rs22,688 crore from the primary market.
The total amount mobilised in June was the single highest for any month so far, said SEBI bulletin issued here, adding there were 12 public issues and two rights issues during the month.
Five mega public issues that hit the market during June were by DLF (Rs9,188 crore), ICICI Bank (Rs10,063 crore), HDFC Bank (Rs1,708 crore), Bharat Earth Movers (Rs527 crore) and Spice Communications (Rs520 crore).
Bulk of the funds were raised by private sector entities from the primary market during the month. While Rs22,504 crore was mobilized by public issues, Rs184 crore was raised through rights issues.
The Sebi analysis pointed out that there were 10 initial public offerings through which the companies raised Rs11,914 crore.
During April-June 2007 quarter, 25 companies raised Rs24,004 crore from the primary market compared to Rs10,672 crore during the corresponding quarter last year.
As regard the private placements reported to BSE and NSE, corporates raised Rs12,262 crore during the month through 139 issues.
