Mumbai: The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex plunged by over 113 points today on emergence of selling by funds in heavy-weight stocks.
The 30-share Sensex, which gained moderate ground in intra-day trading, dropped by 113.79 points at 13.765.46. It touched the day’s high of 13,956.40 and a low of 13,741.24.
In similar fashion, the second wide-based National Stock Exchange fell by 34.15 points at 4,077.00 after moving between 4,136.05 and 4,066.40 points.
A rally in the stocks of Reliance Capital following reports of four major foreign institutional investors planning to pick moderate stake in the company’s mutual fund business, lifted the trading sentiment and saved the index from a major fall.
