The artistic work of craftsmen, which often have a cultural or religious signifance is once again showcased brought to glory at Asia’s biggest display of handicrafts, gifts, textiles and fashion jewellery. The Indian Handicrafts and Gifts Fair (IHGF) is organized by the Export Promotion Council (EPC). The fair which takes place twice a year is in its 23rd edition and starts on 22 February and will be till 26 February. The fair will be held at India Expo Mart—one of India’s finest exposition and business centres. The exhibition centre is located on the outskirts of New Delhi and is connected through the Greater Noida Expressway.

Spread over a vast exhibition area of 97,000 sq. metres, around 1,800 leading Indian manufacturers and exporters from all over India are participating in this exposition of handcrafted products. The fair provides international buyers with a perfect arena in which to source the finest in homeware, as well as decorative and gift items.

IHGF has an impressive track record of 22 successful shows and is globally acclaimed for the quality merchandising opportunities it offers. The fair has increased in its scale of participation, excelled in show management and has become even more attractive as a sourcing destination for the latest in designs and trends.

IHGF’s focus for Spring 2007 would be handicrafts from south India, said Sudhir Tyagi, chairman of EPC. These handicrafts are quite different in character from those of other regions, eventhough the raw material is the same. The four southern states will display products such as banana fibre furniture and products, Banjara embroidery, kolhapuri chappals, wooden carvings, Kalamkari products. There will also be a thematic display.
