Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh: Eight passengers were killed and 50 others injured when a goods train rammed into the stationary Indore-Gwalior Inter-City express at Badarwas railway station in the district amid heavy rains in the wee hours on Monday.
Even as the railway official put the number of dead at eight, Shivpuri superintendent of police Rajendra Prasad put the toll at six. The impact affected two general bogies of the passenger train.
The accident took place when a goods train rammed into the stationery Gwalior-Intercity Express from the front at around 4.45am amid heavy rains and poor visibility, the official said.
Relief trains from neighbouring Guna and Bina towns have been rushed to the spot.
Railway Board officials, including additional member mechanical and additional member signal, have also rushed to the spot.
