Mumbai: Renault India Pvt. Ltd, the Indian arm of French car maker Renault SA, on Tuesday said it would restructure its joint venture (JV) with Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd, through which it makes the no-frills Logan sedan.
Marc Nassif, country director, Mahindra Renault Pvt. Ltd (MRPL), said the company is in advanced stages of discussion with Mahindra to decide the course of action for “MRPL as a business, and Logan as a product”.
Sales of Logan, the only product from the four-year-old JV, have been below expectations, making it a cause of concern for both partners.
“We are exploring all options. A final decision on this will be taken in 30-45 days,” Renault India’s chief operating officer Sudhir Rao said.
In a separate statement, Mahindra spokesperson Roma Balwani said that Logan has very satisfied customers and “enjoys a strong equity”.
