New Delhi: Disney’s The Jungle Book has netted ₹ 40 crore in its opening weekend, besides garnering much praise for its Indian voice cast that includes names like Nana Patekar, Om Puri, Irrfan, Priyanka Chopra and Shefali Shah. The studio has also just announced its collaboration with actor Varun Dhawan for its summer superhero flick Captain America 3: Civil War. Here are ten other animation films that Bollywood actors lent their voices to.
1.The Incredibles (2004)- Shah Rukh Khan made his debut as a voiceover artiste for the Hindi version of the Pixar superhero film, dubbing for the protagonist Lajawab. Directed by Brad Bird, the film made $631 million worldwide.
2.Planes (2013)- Before The Jungle Book, Chopra dubbed for a plane called Ishani in Disney’s animated sports comedy that was directed by Klay Hall. The film made $239 million worldwide.
3.Roadside Romeo (2008)- Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan dubbed this romantic musical comedy directed by Jugal Hansraj and produced by Yash Raj Films along with Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It made about $1 million worldwide.
4.Jumbo (2008)- The animation film directed by Kompin Kemgumnird and produced by Percept Picture Company features voices like Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Dimple Kapadia, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, Gulshan Grover, and Yuvraj Singh. It made collections of about ₹ 1crore.
5.Mahabharat (2013)- The historical drama based on the Hindu epic featured a voice cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Vidya Balan, Sunny Deol, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Manoj Bajpayee and Deepti Naval. But it failed to create much of an impact at the box office, managing collections of only a little over a crore.
6.Delhi Safari (2012)- The Nikhil Advani directed comedy featured voices such as Akshaye Khanna, Govinda, Sunil Shetty, Boman Irani, and Urmila Matondkar. It earned a little over a crore within the country.
7.Ramayana: The Epic (2010)- Debut director Chetan Desai’s re-telling of the epic featured voices like Manoj Bajpayee, Juhi Chawla and Ashutosh Rana. It made about ₹ 36 lakh at the box office.
8.Rio 2 (2014)- Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha lent their voices to the Hindi version of the Carlos Saldanha directed adventure comedy. The film made more than $ 500 million worldwide.
9.The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)- Actor Vivek Oberoi dubbed for Jamie Foxx’s character in the Hindi version of the Marc Webb film released by Columbia Pictures. The superhero flick made more than $708 million worldwide.
10.Dashavatar (2008)- The Bhavik Thakore directed film based on the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu was voiced by actors like Shreyas Talpade and Sachin Khedekar among others. It made ₹ 10 lakh at the box office.
