The Buying Triangle Llc. (TBT), a small New York-based tech vendor specializing in procurement solutions, has sued Infosys Technologies Ltd, India’s second-largest software services firm, for $600,000 or Rs2.42 crore over withholding data and refusing to return it unless legal claims are dropped, a trade magazine reported on its website.
TBT had hired Infosys’ BPO unit last year to host, support and maintain its spend management application used by the US firm’s customers to reduce purchasing costs, InformationWeek reported.
But the deal failed when TBT discovered that the Infosys server hosting the application was unavailable 15 times between July 2006 and March 2007, the publication quoted from a lawsuit filed by TBT in US District Court for Southern New York.
Infosys, in a counter-suit, has denied the charge and said TBT was making up false allegations against it in order to escape payment for services. The Bangalore-based firm had said it is owed more than $40,000 in unpaid fees and is asking the court to award damages, according to the InformationWeek report.
“We have a strong ground and that is why we have counter-sued the company,” Infosys CFO V. Balakrishnan said.
Calls to TBT’s managing director Bernard Gunther for comment were not returned.
