Helsinki: In the next half a decade, around 25% of all entertainment content on internet and mobile phones will be the work of consumers who mix and edit information to send to friends, said the Finnish telephone maker Nokia.
In an attempt to identify trends up to 2012, Nokia interviewed consumers aged between 16 and 35 in 17 countries between July and September on how they used such digital information.
“We predict that up to a quarter of the entertainment being consumed in five years will be what we call ‘circular’,” said Mark Selby, vice president, Nokia.
“The trends we are seeing tell us that people will have a genuine desire not only to create and share their own content, but also to remix it, mash it up and pass it on within their peer groups,” he said.
The survey found that 39% of those questioned regularly watched television via internet and 23% on their mobile phones. About 37% used their mobile phones to surf the net.
