New Delhi: Job site Shine.com has signed a strategic partnership with social recruitment platform MyParichay as it seeks to use social media as a hiring tool.

“Hiring through social media has now reached mainstream recruitment as a credible tool in a savvy recruiter’s toolbox," Shine.com said in a statement on Monday.

Shine.com is run by Firefly e-Ventures Ltd, a subsidiary of HT Media Ltd, publisher of The Hindustan Times and Mint.

The partnership allows recruiters to connect with job seekers, especially in the junior and mid level by enabling them to reach out to the personal networks of employees, match skills to seekers in the extended network and also use a referral feature to connect with potential employees.

As part of the partnership, Shine.com and MyParichay conducted a survey of job seekers on social media. The survey found that 60% of respondents had Facebook accounts, and 32% had both Facebook and LinkedIn accounts while 8% had only a LinkedIn account.

Of these respondents, the survey found that one in 10 Linkedin users was an active user while four out of five Facebook users were active. The survey further revealed that 65% of jobseekers preferred to use Facebook for job searches.
