Honda Motorcycles to sell sports bike CBR 650F in India
In line with the 'Make in India' campaign, the bike will be assembled at the company's Manesar plant in Haryana
New Delhi: Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) on Wednesday said it will start selling its sports bike Honda CBR 650F in India in the next two months.
The bike will be assembled at the company’s Manesar plant in Haryana, HMSI president and chief executive Keita Muramatsu said. HMSI already sells the CBR 250R and CBR 1000RR models in India.
“In line with the ‘Make in India’ campaign, we have decided to make our flagship model CBR 650F in India for India," Muramatsu said.
“It is a very big challenge (to make the bike here). We are almost halfway (in terms of preparation). We will start producing the bike in the next two months," he said.
Honda will initially make two units a day. It will gradually raise production as demand rises and its own workers are trained. The company plans to send some of its workers to Japan for training in manufacturing and servicing.
“If we succeed in this, we will make more such models here," Muramatsu said.
Yadvinder S. Guleria, senior vice-president of sales and marketing at HMSI said the company has identified 20 cities to market the new bike, which will be sold through existing outlets.
