BANGALORE: Consulting firm Accenture Ltd. plans to raise its staff strength in India to 35,000 by August. This will make India its employment hub, overtaking the United States, Chief Executive William Green said on January 29.
“Quite simply, India is a key country for Accenture over all, a critical element in our global delivery network in particular and integral to Accenture’s growth strategy,” he said in a statement.
The company currently employs 27,000 people in India, spread across six cities - Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune and Chennai.It will hire 8,000 more in the next eight months. Currently, Accenture has its highest number of employees in the United States, where 30,000 employees are on its rolls.
