Srinagar: Appointment letters and transfer orders of Jammu and Kashmir government are now just a mouse click away. In an IT-friendly move by the State government, people can now download official documents from the interactive website of the State General Administration Department, which was launched by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on 7May.

While launching the website, the CM said that going hi-tech was necessary for streamlining the functioning of various departments across the state.

He informed that problems of poor bandwidth and technical snags in the Software Technology Park needed to be sorted out for better Internet connectivity.

The website aims to bring transparency in the working of GAD and cater to the information needs of the people by providing access to various orders passed in the department, Principal Secretary GAD Khursheed Ahmad Ganaie said.

Besides, the employees can even download their appointment and transfer orders passed by the GAD at the click of a mouse and the media persons can get all the governmental information on line, he said.

Safeguards to protect the authenticity of the documents downloaded from the website have been put in place by way of digital signatures, Ganaie said adding that a cell of IT professionals would be set up to respond to queries of the people and to update the website on a prompt basis.
