Chandigarh: Consumer Electronics major Samsung India on 23 August announced the launch of new range of flat colour television for Indian market and further announced to sell two million televisions in domestic market during 2007-08.
The company, which is wholly owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co, introduced three ultra slimfit, two slimfit and two flat television models during the launching ceremony that held in Ludhiana Thursday.
With the launch of the new Flat Televisions, Samsung has a product lineup comprising 22 Flat TV models, priced ranging between Rs6,400 to Rs22,500 and 7 Slimfit TV models in the range between Rs10,500 and Rs 20,000.
“The Slim TV category is expected to fuel the transition from curved TVs to Flat TVs. At Samsung, we expect to sell 2 million units of TVs this year as against 1.8 million TVs sold last year,” Pradeep Tognatta, Director-Sales, Samsung India said.
The company expects to notch up a 50% market share in the Slim TV, 50% market share in the LCD TV and 25% market share in the overall Flat TV market in the country out of the total industry size of 10.5 million TVs, he said.
Expecting a growth of 20%, the company targets to achieve a total business (consumer electronics and Information technology) of $ 1.3 billion during this fiscal against $ 1.05 achieved last year, he said.
To expand its reach in the domestic market, the company has also drawn a plan to open more exclusive outlets in the country.
