BackIdea, Indian Oil tie up for customer service solution
The two-year agreement will cover 82 million Indane customers serviced by 7,000 distributors in 45 cities

Mumbai:Idea Cellular Ltd has tied up with Indian Oil Corp. Ltd (IOCL) to help customers of its LPG brand Indane book gas cylinder refills via its interactive voice response (IVR) platform, and receive text message updates on billing and delivery.
The two-year agreement will cover 82 million Indane customers serviced by 7,000 distributors in 45 cities.
More cities will be added in the next three months.
Sashi Shankar, chief marketing officer, Idea Cellular said: “This is a major boost to our enterprise business solution, which is focused on providing unique voice and data-based telecom solutions to help large, medium and small enterprises to transform their businesses."
With Indian Oil delivering 1.5 million gas cylinders every day, Idea’s ‘Smart Gas Solution’ will be one of the largest IVR deployments by a telecom operator in India.
A.N. Jha, executive director (LPG), IOCL, said: “This has been one of the major e-governance projects for IOCL and has not only helped us enhance overall transparency in cylinder booking and real-time reporting, helping better stocks and logistics management across the country, but also faster problem resolution and better experience for the consumers."
At 3.50pm, shares of Idea Cellular were down 0.82% at ₹ 145.25 on the BSE, while the benchmark Sensex was up 0.01% at 25,583.69.
