Chennai: Software major IBM today signed an agreement with Bangalore-based Ordyn Technologies, a optical telecom transmission equipment manufacturer, to manage its complete IT infrastructure.

IBM will provide global business and technology services, hardware, software, and IT financing to help Ordyn make its business flexible to align with the rapidly evolving market dynamics, an IBM release said here.

This deal will enable Ordyn leverage IBM’s global domain knowledge and consulting expertise in the Indian Telecom space to ensure sustained growth.

Ordyn’s ambitious global plans and its rapid expansion in the global scenario demand a robust, homogeneous and seamless communication and application platform which can be replicated rapidly to create unified architecture at its global locations, it said.

“IBM’s expertise in this (telecommunication) segment and the breadth of products and services will help successful companies in the SME Market, such as Ordyn, continue to tackle the explosive Indian Telecom market with the assurance that they have IBM at their side at all times," IBM India/South Asia Director, Global Mid Market Business Ramesh Narasimhan said.

The deal includes Global Business Services such as implementation of oracle’s E-Business Suite, and IBM Global Technology services that include End User Services (EUS), Integrated Technology Services (ITS) and Infrastructure and Connectivity Solutions (ICS).

It will also allow Ordyn to leverage IBM’s ‘System x servers’ and storage offerings to deploy their business critical applications and effective data management.

IBM Global Financing will be a strategic resource in the long run for Ordyn, helping it update technologies, reduce costs, minimize risk, and preserve the ability to make flexible equipment decisions.

According to the recent Indian Telecom Services Business report by Voice and Data, India’s telecom services industry grew 22% to Rs107,681 crore during 2006-07.

“After evaluating couple of vendors,it was evident that IBM was the only Partner that could offer us a complete spectrum of end-to-end scaleable solution that addressed our IT needs from start to finish", Ordyn Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer R Srinivasan said.
