Spectrum auction: bids decline to Rs1.05 trillion
At the end of 92nd round, about 88% of the spectrum has been provisionally allocated to bidders
New Delhi: The telecom spectrum auction continued on Friday with bids declining to ₹ 1.05 trillion after 92 rounds, the department of telecommunications (DoT) said in a statement.
“There is robust bidding going on in 1,800MHz (megahertz), 900MHz and 800MHz bands. At the end of 92nd round, about 88% of the spectrum has been provisionally allocated to bidders. The provisional amount committed by bidders at the end of 92nd round is over ₹ 1,05,000 crore. Majority of service areas are going at a premium over reserve price. The competitive bidding is expected to continue. There is still spectrum which is yet to be sold," it said.
Bidding seems to have picked up in the 900MHz and 1,800MHz bands. Excess demand was seen in Rajasthan and both Uttar Pradesh (UP) circles, in the 900MHz bands, according to data from the DoT. Excess demand was also seen in the Himachal Pradesh circle for the 1,800MHz band, and the North-east circle for 800MHz. The Madhya Pradesh circle saw the biggest increase over Thursday’s established band for 800MHz, while western UP saw the greatest rise in the 900MHz band.
