IIT launches P G Senapathy centre for computing resources

Chennai: The Indian Institute of Technology- Madras, launched the P G Senapathy Centre for Computing Resources in its campus on 10 August.
The state-of-the-art facility with a data centre has been set up at a cost of Rs20 crore with the data centre coming up at an investment of Rs2.5 crore was inaugurated by S Gopalakrishnan, CEO and managing director, Infosys.
The facility can house 12,000 CPUs and has a computing power of 10 peta flops, according to a professor at IIT-M. Also, this centre would help the institute do paperless transactions.
The professor said the institute was in talks with various agencies like the Department of Atomic Energy to make use of the rest of the available space at the Centre.
