Mumbai: India’s nuclear scientists should focus on increasing the use of nuclear energy for power production and non-power applications in areas like health care and agriculture, a top scientist said on 15 August, India’s 60th Independence Day.
At the same time, young scientists and engineers should usher in new technologies based on their inventions and innovations as the country has reached a stage where new ideas will find moral and financial support, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Director S Banerjee said.
“BARC rededicates itself today to continue its pursuit of excellence in the frontier areas of nuclear science and technology for the betterment of the life of people of India," Banerjee said while addressing BARC staff on the historic day.
“Our work should lead to improvement in the quality of life of our citizens, especially through our contributions towards growth of nuclear energy for power production and several non-power applications in sectors including health care, agriculture, preservation of food and desalination," he said.
