Telcos owe Rs54,800 crore in licence, spectrum fees: Ravi Shankar Prasad
Telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad says the amount under litigation is Rs44,380.91 crore
New Delhi: Telecom operators owe the government ₹ 54,828.25 crore in licence fee, spectrum charges and arrears, of which ₹ 44,380.91 crore is under litigation, Parliament was informed on Wednesday.
The outstanding dues also include electro magnetic radiation penalty, customer application form fine and mobile number portability testing fee arrears.
“Out of the total outstanding of ₹ 54,828.25 crore, the amount under litigation is ₹ 44,380.91 crore pertaining to major telecom service providers," telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
He said cases pending in various courts are closely monitored and suitable actions are being taken in consultations with senior law officers from time to time.
The total outstanding due against Bharti Airtel Ltd is ₹ 11,235.50 crore, followed by state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd at ₹ 9,936.26 crore, Vodafone India Ltd at ₹ 9,206.03 crore, Idea Cellular Ltd at ₹ 5,435.41 crore and Reliance Communications Ltd at ₹ 6,355.43 crore.
Tata Teleservices Ltd owes ₹ 3,472.52 crore and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd ₹ 4,091.31 crore.
