Global cities compete to be in new Monopoly game

New Delhi: Monopoly, which has been one of the most popular board games that has enthralled children and adults alike, is ready with a unique contest which will see more than 68 cities from around the world competing to be included on the game’s new board. The competition will ask game fans to cast their votes online to help determine which cities will be a part of Monopoly’s first worldwide edition.

Once the voting ends on 28 February, the top 20 cities with the majority of the ballots will be placed on the ”Monopoly Here & Now: The World Edition” game board.

The game is expected to go on sale in September 2008. Since its introduction nearly 75 years ago, Monopoly officials confirm that the game has been played by more than 750 million people throughout the world.
