OpenID is here!
OpenID is one of the most ‘inclusive’ ideas in a long time. It allows you to have only one ID across all sites that support the login. Individual sites, especially those dependent on traffic may still have to figure out whether it makes sense to hop on to an OpenID platform, but from a user point of view, this makes life so much simpler. If, say, Yahoo! mail and Hotmail support OpenID, all you need is one ID to log in. That addresses the issue of having to remember multiple IDs and passwords. Not since Microsoft’s failed attempt at Passport has anyone tried to do this but now, Internet giant, AOL, has decided to adopt OpenID for all its 63 million subscribers in the US.
