What’s the popular colour this season and how can I add it to my home?
You’ll be seeing shades of aubergine and plum and a lot more black than we’ve seen in the past. These two colours are deeply glamorous. Everything is in high-glamour mode right now. To add them to your home, you really have two choices: upholstery and wall colours. Both black and eggplant are wonderful when used as a suede or velvet — something that has a good touch-and-feel quality.
Eggplant is gorgeous on walls. Both would look lovely on cashmere throws. This year, we’re seeing chandeliers with a lot of black glass. Another option — ostrich feathers, big ostrich feathers in black vases — add a lot of glamour.
Glamour bird: Feathers add to the drama.
We want a flat screen television, but we still want it hidden when we’re not using it. What are some options?
I’m really not one for putting paintings on a mobile surface. So opt for a leather panel or wooden panel that slides in front of it. Make it look a part of the bookcase. Your other option is to have it pop up or pop down from a concealed space. However, there aren’t many options for these kind of products. You would have to order it from abroad.
What are some suggestions for creating a personal temple space in a home that doesn’t have a designated temple room?
A temple space is such a personal sentiment. It’s impossible for me to say where you should put it because it really can go anywhere. It’s really where you’re most comfortable spending a peaceful moment and where you’re okay displaying your religious sentiments. You can do it in a garden, in a courtyard, in a little alcove, or on a table. You just have to choose the spot you see as most calming, and create a space there.
