When every single cotton garment with claims to being handprinted, woven or dyed comes with the disclaimer that all its faults must be embraced as part of the beauty of the process, you start wondering if someone somewhere is taking wild liberties with creative licence. Thankfully, the new collection from Anokhi is testament to the fact that true craftsmanship is alive and thriving, at least at the company’s “farm” on the outskirts of Jaipur.
Genoa Rose, the latest capsule collection by Anokhi, stays true to the brand’s ethos of contemporary sensibility married to traditional design. The brand, whose name is synonymous with gorgeous Indian prints, uses block prints and vegetable dyes, and the colours and patterns are bold and striking.
Part of Anokhi’s Genoa Rose collection. This dress will soon be available in stores.
The floral print is clear and crisp, not something you expect to see in most block prints. A bright coral base accented with a white, pale green and moss motif, Genoa Rose is available in a range of short and long kurtas and kurtis and even as a very climate-appropriate long crinkle skirt. For those who like a touch of luxe, the strappy silk top is a great way of adding a piece of this pretty print to your closet.
More garment patterns in the print will be released in stores later in the season.
The Genoa Rose collection is available at Anokhi stores in Bangalore, Chennai, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi, at Rs 780 onwards.
