I think buttoned shirts look awful on women. Can you help me out with some other options that look equally professional, but more flattering?
I think buttoned shirts are great, and a functional piece of clothing. It’s not true that they look unappealing on women; in fact, they are one of the few pieces of clothing that are completely professional and yet very flattering. A well-fitted buttoned shirt looks wonderful with trousers or skirts. But if you do want alternatives, you could try wearing light knits. If you wear a jacket, try a camisole or a non-strappy halter top underneath.
What are the kinds of shirts that are appropriate for men who have a lot of chest and back hair? Also, is it acceptable to shave or wax?
You must avoid thin, lightweight fabrics, and transparent materials such as mul and shirts with embroidery or crochet, as these often have tiny holes. Make sure the fabric is breathable; medium-weight linens, cotton poplins and terrycot are all good bets. Also remember to wear darker colours. But if the fabric is opaque, then you don’t need to worry about colour at all.
Of course, it is acceptable to shave or wax; the latter is a better option, but more painful. But don’t give up hope, there are a lot of superstars who are very hairy and carry it off quite well.
