The big picture
Indian contemporary art’s phenomenal price growth is prompting more and more people to view art as something worth investing in. Mint recently organized a panel discussion on art investment called ‘The Big Picture’, in collaboration with television channel CNBC, to demystify art for the common investor. Nearly 200 people attended the event in New Delhi. Speakers included Dinesh Vazirani of auction house Saffronart, Peter Nagy of Nature Morte gallery and collector Gurcharan Das. The artists who participated were Jitish Kallat, Anjolie Ela Menon and Baiju Parthan. The second series of ‘The Big Picture’ is scheduled for 15 March at Mumbai’s ITC Grand Sheraton. This will be followed by one more event in Bangalore.
