Cricket: The Australia file
Ahead of the series starting Friday in India, we look at how Australia have fared against major Test-playing nations
NEW DELHI :
India and Australia play the first Test of their upcoming four-match series in Chennai starting 22 February.
This will be the 83rd time the two teams have met, of which, Australia has won 38, India 23 and 20 have resulted in a draw.
We look at how Australia, over the years, have dominated test cricket among top cricketing nations and also, give some interesting factoids about India and Australia.
The statistical study throws some interesting stats: for instance, Asanka Gurusinha, with two hundreds, holds the record for most hundreds for Sri Lanka against Australia, none of the Asian teams (India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan) have ever won a series in Australia; Chennai and Brisbane happen to be destinations where bowlers have done the best for the two nations and many more.
