The first Grey Goose Lounge of the country has opened next to Blue Frog in Lower Parel, Mumbai. The club has used the vacant long and narrow space on the mezzanine level in the recording studio (given to artists who perform at Blue Frog) next door and converted it into a small and stylish lounge. The lounge with wooden interiors and long silver seats is open only to members. The management will invite selected people from the city’s swish set who want to catch an after-work drink or relax with friends with some mellow music and delicious cocktails.
Luxe lounge:Membership is by invitation only.
If Grey Goose is the base for your cocktail, you’re guaranteed a smooth drink. The food and beverage manager of Blue Frog, Mayank Bhatt, who has designed the cocktails here, makes it sweet with an exquisite selection of cocktails under the Goose Tails section of the menu. The Citrus Mistress with pomegranate, passion fruit and mint, and the Goosetini with kaffir lime and honey are worth trying. The cocktails are priced at Rs750. The bar menu is vast with choices of many other cocktails, wines and single malts.
The highlight of the experience at this lounge is the Kerala oysters served on a trolley brought to your seat. The waiter will break open the oyster shells in front of you and scoop out the flesh for you. If you’re a fan of oysters, you’ll love the taste of the sea washed down with a shot of Bloody Mary. At Rs600 for half-a-dozen oysters, you get your money’s worth. Otherwise, the food menu consists of charcuterie, cheese platters and amuse-bouches. The chef has created bite-sized beauties with poached lobster, wasabi and pickled mango; salmon mousse with red caviar and baked brie; pineapple salsa on puffed pastry. Everything is available in single or combination platters which are priced at Rs600 or Rs800.
The lounge is a small space and will mostly do well as a venue for private parties. The space downstairs is a venue for art exhibitions and left us wondering how they plan to maintain the privacy of the people downstairs and those lounging upstairs.
The management has no plans to serve dinner at the lounge, but if you’re looking to eat, you can order from the Blue Frog menu that they will provide on request.
