Italy’s leading silverware brand, Greggio, is about to hit Indian markets. The range to be offered promises to be contemporary, elegant and visually stunning. From ergonomically designed baby spoons to whisky flasks, from wine corks engraved with bunches of grapes to wheat stalk and butterfly decoration items, from sugar tongs to butter dishes, Greggio manages to create a beautiful blend of practical utility and great Italian design. Interestingly, there are some quirky innovations as well—such as the silver bag holder which exploits a simple but effective law of physics to cling to the edges of a table so that, if in a restaurant, you could hang that pricey Louis Vuitton bag rather than keep it on the floor. The prices are typically higher than at your nearby silversmith and expected to retail at about Rs70/g. The company assuresa purity of 92.5%, which it claims is not available anywhere else in the country. It has tied up with Gitanjali Lifestyle Ltd, the owner of brands such as D’damas, Asmi and Nakshatra. Greggio products are expected to be available in Gitanjali outlets across the country by late July and in two exclusive Greggio stores in New Delhi and Mumbai by late August.
